Who We Are

A Family Legacy Les Créateurs de Babylone is above all the combination of a father and his son and their shared passion for this very special material. Our project was built by a French family dedicated to preserving the exceptional craftsmanship of shagreen leather goods.

Our Expert Team Jean Perfettini, eminent French shagreen specialist and author of two books on this rare material, brings his invaluable expertise and experience to our workshop. His contribution ensures state-of-the-art craftsmanship and infallible quality control. His son Raphaël Perfettini, whose grandfather was an antique dealer, grew up knowing and loving shagreen. An entrepreneur from an early age, he was the first to launch this project.

Our Craft Les Créateurs de Babylone accessories are the product of skilled, painstaking work on the skins. Shagreen, much stiffer and tougher than cowhide, requires a whole series of operations before it is fit for use. We monitor the entire manufacturing cycle, from preliminary preparation of the skins through to the final touches on the finished accessories.

Now only a handful of craftsmen still master the secrets of fashioning this material for decorative purposes. We apply the same techniques used in the early 20th century to craft our accessories today. With the craftsman's hand supervising and guiding each step in the process, our accessories are unique works of art produced with impeccable quality.
